Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, have launched search-and-rescue operations following the abduction of a man, identified as Mr Victor Yakong, by suspected armed Fulani men in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama in his post on X on Wednesday stated that security sources said the incident occurred at about 2:10 am on November 4, 2026, at Rangarassang Rantiya, where Yakong and his colleague, identified as Mr Nensemk Yokshak, were reportedly attacked while attempting to gain entry into their residence.
According to him, "The sources said troops of Sector 3, OPEP, responded to a report of the abduction and, upon arrival, established that the two men had been together when the attackers struck."
He explained that Yokshak reportedly managed to escape from the assailants and raised the alarm, prompting a security response.
Troops, he said, working alongside Keystone personnel, subsequently launched search-and-rescue operations in suspected hideouts of the kidnappers.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and secure Yakong's safe release.
The incident comes amid continued security operations in Bassa and other parts of Plateau State to prevent kidnappings and attacks on residents.
